I like to think of my family as a Team ~ that way we know we’re all on the same side. This weekend, as I found myself REALLY needing a LONG break from my family (which I would not get), I decided to take a quiet moment and appreciate each member of our family for what they bring to our Team. It really helped me get into a positive frame of mind again so I could ENJOY them, rather than run from them. 🙂 Give it a try.
My 4 year old Roan brings enthusiasm, passion, and a strong will to our Team.
My 7 year old Finn brings humor, peacekeeping/mediating, and a wiseness beyond his years to our Team.
My 6 month old Kai brings PEACE, contentment, and joy to our Team.
My Beloved Hubby brings playfulness, acts of service (he ALWAYS runs the errands and does the cooking!), and a groundedness to our Team.
I bring tickles, hugs, cuddles, lots and lots of love, and honesty to our Team. And to be honest, I’m in the process of letting go of A LOT so our family can bring more to the Team without always relying on me (yes, I’m a reforming control-freak).
Recently our Team sat down at the kitchen table and came up with principles/concepts of what we want our family to reflect (that’s it in the above picture). I put it on the fridge and we all refer to it often, especially if one of us is not co-operating. This has really helped to give our Team a frame of reference. Sometimes I do the reminding, sometimes our children do ~ and it always helps bring us back to the kind of family we want to be.
I’d love to hear what you do to make your family work! Thanks for joining me on this Magical Monday. 😉
