My name is Marie and I’m a trendaholic. I follow them, I read blog after blog about them, I pin them, and re-work my wardrobe to accomodate them. Obsessed? maybe. Let’s refer to it as my “hobby,” K? There. I’ve just rationalized it with you so now we can move on.
Any mom worth her weight in Desitin knows that one of the best places to stock up on sippy cups, diapers, animal crackers and juice boxes is her neighborhood Target store. And while we may joke with our girlfriends that, “Every time I go into Target for a bottle of Advil and a gallon of Tide, I end up spending $150!!” True story. I feel like I should start a support group every time I leave that place hanging my head in shame while struggling under the weight of 4 bags crammed to the limits with just about everything from stickers and cards to Essie nail polish and lipsmackers. Yes. Shame is Essie “Mint Candy Apple” in a Target bag.
I don’t know whether you’re going to thank me or rue the day you stumbled upon this post, but what I’m about to tell you may just about blow your mind. Target and Neiman Marcus have announced a collaboration to end all collabs. Are you ready for this?
OK, now that you’ve picked your jaw up off the table, here are all of the amazing and very affordable details-
Target and Neiman’s will be launching a collection From December 1-20 , with twenty-four amazing luxury designers for a limited-time-only holiday collection of gifts. Ranging from under ten dollars to five hundred, with the majority of offerings will be under sixty dollars. What’s unreal about all of this is the availability of luxury goods at Target prices! Just to give you some idea of the amazingness of this situation, here are a list of designers in the collab:
Band of Outsiders
Can you just imagine for a minute Tory Burch at a Target price? Diane von Furstenburg at a Target price? Marc Jacobs at a Target price? Yeah. You get the picture. While the details are still being worked out, it’s understood that the items will be available in Targets & Neimans, as well as their online retail accounts. Designers will each make two pieces, and it’s also been discussed that customers will be limited to the quantity that they are allowed to purchase. Hopefully in response to the internet and in-store fiasco brought with the Missoni for Target collab last year. While some see these partnerships as “weakening luxury brands” and cheapening the quality of luxury goods, I disagree. It is great exposure for these brands to an entire population that views them as relative unknowns. It appeals to audiences across the fashion world, and adds glam to “mom closets” everywhere. More importantly, this enables us to add a little affordable luxury into our closets and jewlery boxes. And as far as quality goes, the collection will feature real leather goods, silk, hand beading, blown glass, and 18k gold. I was fortunate enough to be able to snag a Missoni for Target dress online the day of the Missoni launch and it’s one of my faves! It even made a recent appearance on Good Morning America…
So you fashion forward moms out there, and moms who swoon over the pages in InStyle and Vogue, now’s your time to pounce!! And if I don’t answer your texts or phone calls in the early morning hours of December, please take no offense. I’ll be planted at my laptop adding some sweet luxe goods in my shopping cart before I hit the treadmill!
