Wow have things changed! B.C. (Before Children) my magazine of choice would be a juicy Cosmo. Now, I am like a little kid on Christmas morning when I open up the mailbox to find my Parents magazine! I always find great tips, activities, and inspiration. I found this week’s Create it Saturday project in the latest issue. If you are like me you are always trying to figure out new ways to keep your children occupied in the car. This is a fun solution to that “car-ride boredom” and chances are you already have a lot of the supplies needed to make this!
What you will need:
- CD case (with inserts taken out)
- Electrical tape
- Pipe cleaner
- 2 large buttons
- 1 small button
- 1 small bead
- 1 sheet of foam paper
Step 1: Trace the cd case on the piece of foam and cut it out.
Step 2: Use the materials to design your face and glue it in place. (I used pipe cleaner for the eyebrows and lips, buttons for the eyes and nose, and pom-poms to make the pupils of the eyes.) *Note: make sure you leave an opening on the side of the mouth where the bead can enter.
Step 3: Once the foam face is inside the cd case, glue pipe cleaner around the edges to keep the bead from falling out.
Step 4: Put the small bead inside the cd case and use the electrical tape to seal it shut. (You can make it look even more fun with different colored electrical tape. I just used black because that’s what I had)
Step 5: See how impressed your child is with your skills at maneuvering that tiny bead into the mouth (and make sure you give them a turn too)!
We would LOVE to see your Create it Saturday creations! Please share with us by uploading a picture to our facebook page!!!
P.S. Here’s my new mantra I thought I would share with you:
***Contemplate, Create, Celebrate!***
Hope it helps get those creative juices flowin’!
