Jake has become somewhat of a fashion advisor for me. He “advises me” that if he can reach the sparkly baubles hanging from my ear lobes or from around my neck, there’s a 100% chance that he’s going to grab it and try to eat it. Same holds true for sunglasses, Red Sox hats, and ear buds. I remember being young, cute and pregnant, flipping through stacks of pregnant lady magazines, and making fun of the advertisements for baby-friendly necklaces that mom can wear that baby can chew on. I laughed, passed judgment, and flipped the page. Did I also mention that along with being young, cute and pregnant, Naïve? Kind of gives a whole new meaning to Snoop’s Young, Wild, & Free, huh? Well, here I am, one humbled mom later. Humbled, but smarter! Learning from Jake trying to snack on my accessories, I adapted. Instead of shedding my pieces of flair, I switched to full on bracelets! Bracelets don’t seem to catch his eye as I’m holding him, and they’re attached to my arm, meaning no fears of him choking me or ripping my ear off.
Enter, the Stack.
[stak]. Noun. 1.) a more or less orderly pile or heap: a precariously balanced stack of books; a neat stack of papers.
Essentially, you’re going to want to sub out “stack of books” and “stack of papers” and sub in bracelets, chains, and braided leather. And as far as stacking goes, all rules are out the window. Mix pearls with rope bracelets and Tiffany silver. You know that pile of bracelets in your jewelry box, or piled up in your underwear drawer? Well it’s time to dig in to your stash and see what you can come up with. And if you’re not feeling too creative, Alex & Ani has saved you a lot of time and trouble. Their bracelets are a-MAZE-ing for stacking. Not only can you mix metals like silver and Russian gold, but you can add beads and stones into your stack. Kind of gives a whole new meaning to Stacked, huh?
And if you’re looking for more inspiration, here are some of my favorite stacks I found around the office!
