Whether you work inside the home, outside the home, or are a stay-at-home mommy, you work hard and deserve something that might bring a little relaxation on those “Is it wine o’clock” kind of days. That is why this Create it Saturday is dedicated to YOU!
My husband and I enjoy going for rides on his Harley. The fresh air, wind on our face, the freedom of no children! Of course we don’t have the chance to do this nearly as much as we did B.C. (before children) but we did have an opportunity in the beginning of the month to hop on the bike and go wherever the wind took us. On this journey I discovered something pretty amazing called a “Redneck Wine Glass” in a cute little store we stopped at along the way. Well, I saw it and knew I could make one myself! Here’s the one I made:
If I were to make a commercial for it, you might hear something like this:
“Are you exhausted after a long day of work, taking care of your kids, cleaning the house, running around like a chicken with your head cut off, and all of the other responsibilities that come with the name “Mom?” Do you suffer from “I am so annoyed with my spouse/significant other” syndrome? What about your needs? Well look no further – we have just what you need… your very own Mommy’s Sippy Cup! (Adult beverage sold separately. Please drink responsibly.)”
Here’s what you need to make one:
- glass mason jar (Walmart)
- glass candle stick (the dollar store)
- Epoxy Quick Set glue (Home Depot)
Step 1: Follow the directions on the epoxy package for how to apply the glue and then put on rim of candle stick.
Step 2: Press onto the bottom of the mason jar and leave it for 24 hours.
Step 3 (optional): I added a little something extra and wrote “Cheers” on the lid with a black Sharpie marker.
Step 4: Fill with choice of wine or alternate adult beverage, put your feet up, relax and enjoy (knowing that with that lid closed little ones can’t dip those tiny fingers (with God knows what on them) into your liquid goodness…not to mention it will prevent bugs from landing in your drink on those nice summer nights out on your deck, patio, or yard)!
Suggestion for those of you who don’t drink wine: you can drink anything in your fancy glass… lemonade, soda, iced tea! And if that doesn’t tickle your fancy, why not use it to put candles in?
Here’s to all you mommy’s out there doing what you do every single day…rain or shine, sickness or health, energized or exhausted, happy or stressed. I raise my glass to you! CHEERS!!!
