1. Own a really, really good pair of jeans.
  2. Stay up on current events — read both People Magazine and the Dailies.
  3. Play a sport.
  4. Master the art of online shopping — it’ll save you both time & money.
  5. Live on your own for a period of time.
  6. Networking is a life long skill.  Become a guru.
  7. Date night is just as important after having kids — if not more important to you and your relationship with your family.
  8. Take lots of pictures — and actually develop them.
  9. Learn to make a killer dessert — and truly master it.
  10. Sweat at least 3 times a week.
  11. Confront a challenge head on, and Woman Up and deal with it.
  12. Learn to love a glass of wine on the week night.
  13. Find a girlfriend to get your nails done with.  This will be a life long friendship.
  14. Truly love and be loved.
  15. Keep a paper agenda with you at all times.
  16. Leopard print is neutral.  Repeat this to yourself every single season.
  17. Be someone’s best friend and let them be yours.
  18. Pearls really do go with everything.
  19. Start a tradition.
  20. Sometimes turning into your mother isn’t a bad thing.
  21. Go away to college.  Live in a dorm.
  22. Travel — anywhere.  See lots of things and let your surroundings be discovered.
  23. Learn to drive stick.  I learned one summer, forgot it, and am going to learn again.
  24. Please don’t be someone you’re not.  You’ll know and so will your friends.
  25. Live in a big city.
  26. Run a 5k.  Accidentally turn that into a half marathon.
  27. Listen to Jimmy Buffett, The Grateful Dead, and CCR.  You’ll be a better person for it.
  28. Raise your children on variety — do not skimp on garlic, fresh herbs, and avocado.
  29. Embrace and love your heritage.  Learn all you can about your ancestors.
  30. Volunteer to host a family holiday.
  31. Own a signature scent.
  32. Celebrate.  Birthdays, Anniversaries, Holidays, Engagements, Babies and Marriages.
