It’s no secret that I’m madly in love with my niece. I talk about her often here on the blog since I not only get to see her regularly but I watch her once a week in the evenings. It also helps that I’m very close with my sister so I really can’t stay away from their house very long. At all. On most occasions, I find ways to invite myself over as an excuse to hang out with them.
What you don’t know is that I’m about to be an Auntie again. No, my sister isn’t pregnant, but my sister-in-law is. In less than a month we’ll get to welcome a new little baby into our family. I am over-the-moon excited for my brother- and sister-in-law—being an Auntie is the best job ever!
So, Baby G, as we all anxiously await your arrival, there are a few things I’d like you to know:
We’ve been doing this for the last twenty months or so with Nora, and Uncle Len and I think we have this aunt and uncle thing in the bag. Nailed it. But maybe Uncle Len should change a few of your diapers just to be sure.
You’re due to arrive on Super Bowl Sunday. Irony of all ironies, your dad is a HUGE football fan, so there may or may not be bets to see if you’ll actually be born that day. Whenever you decide to appear, you’ve given us all a little laugh (and a reason for your dad to sweat it out a bit) so I like you already for your moxie and spunk.
Your Mom and Dad are great. They’re smart, funny, successful, and I think they’ll be terrific parents. If you’re anything like your dad and uncle, you’ll probably get into some mischief as a kid. But your mom is a teacher, so be warned, I’m sure she’s seen it all. I’ve seen the look she gives the dog, and she means business.
Speaking of the dog, Chloe may look big but she is very sweet. All she wants to do is eat, sleep and play. In fact, looks like you two will have a lot in common.
You haven’t seen any of it yet, but I was at your baby shower and you have a lot of cool stuff in your room. I’ll be sure to come over a lot so we can play with everything together.
You are lucky enough to have three sets of grandparents. Not one, not two, but three! You also come from a pretty big family, so prepare to be spoiled. And of course Auntie will have nothing whatsoever to do with that…
Just when we thought there was so much love in our lives, how could we possibly fit any more…you came along. We love you already. Uncle Len and I are so excited to meet you…even if it may mean scheduling visiting hours around halftime and time outs. We can’t wait to officially welcome you to the family, Baby G!
