In just over a week, my first baby is turning 4! I can hardly believe that almost four years ago, we brought our little bundle home with no idea of what to expect.
I’ll say that again…we had absolutely no idea what we were in for. I nicknamed her “the little sweetheart” because she was the sweetest baby that I had ever laid my eyes on. My husband and I learned the ropes of newborn care and our cute baby girl was cooing and rolling over before we knew it. At a mere 10 months old, our little girl found her feet and started walking (wobbling) around our house.
Fast forward to today and she hardly ever walks anywhere. Our spunky preschooler runs, skips, hops, dances or wiggles like a worm, but rarely uses her body to walk. She has become quite the character. She impresses me every day with her witty remarks and genuine curiosity about so many things. This past Christmas, Santa delivered a Leap Pad 2 and as we were playing with it one day, she looked up at me with big wide eyes and said, “does this do internet?” I had to laugh and thought to myself, “how the hell does she know what the internet is?”
She brings me silly joy everyday and I am a better person because of her. I have watched her grow from a helpless newborn to a loving older sibling. We have gone from Elmo to Dora to Princesses and now onto Barbie.
Thank you for the past 4 years my little sweetheart. I can’t wait to see what the next years bring. You make Mommy so proud.
