OK, how did everyone fare with the time change this weekend? I was all prepared to write about how horrifying it was and how much I hate it and CURSE YOU, DST!!!!!!!

springahead

However, the kids were both asleep by (new) 8:10pm. Whaaaaaaaa?!?! My husband and I had the bonus of feeling like it was an hour earlier and therefore had enough energy to watch one of the million shows we have had sitting on our DVR for a month.

And we both stayed awake! Holla, DST!

But then.

Just when you thought it was safe to go to sleep…

I heard crying from Olivia’s room. Crap. I went in hoping to just rub her back for a second and that she’d fall right back to sleep. No luck. She was legitimately crying over an earache. It’s been a long time since she’s had an ear infection (she’s had tubes for almost two years) and I wasn’t even sure where our ear drops were. I brought her down to my husband then found the (unexpired! YES!) ear drops and administered them with no protest from the three year old. (HAHAHAHA you don’t believe that, right? She was not happy about it. At all.)

Then began the arduous task of bribing her to to take ibuprofen for the pain so she could sleep. I got so desperate that I offered ice cream (at 11pm. Oh yes, I did.) if she’d take it.

“No, fank you!” she cried. “It’s feeling a bit better already.” Two seconds later, tears are streaming down her face while she pretends she’s fine. Heartbreaking! I finally managed to create a juice combination that she choked down and she was comfortable enough to sleep by 11:45pm.

It was after midnight by the time I actually got to bed. I was so tired, I shut my alarm off accidentally. So exhausted this morning. Had to wake the kids for school (my kids are naturally early birds, so I’m not used to this!) and they were all teenagery and hiding under their covers like wee vampires.

I suppose I can’t entirely blame DST for our rough night/morning, but it sure as hell didn’t help.

Yawn.
