I really like the idea of a babymoon. You know, a getaway with your hunny before the baby comes, one of the last times before there are three or more of you. In my opinion, it doesn’t have to be anything elaborate or exotic, just quiet time for the two of you, away from home. For me, it means getting away from work and a house that is in total upheaval while we begin to renovate our kitchen. But, are we planning a babymoon?
Although, I’m making this past weekend count! Neither one of us are able to get any time off of our jobs, but we tried hard to make Sunday a day just for the two of us, which is very rare. I work every Sunday, but I went in early this past weekend and was able to get my work done within four hours—all before 9am. The perks of being a baker! But, that meant my hubby and I had the entire day to ourselves. So, we packed a backpack and some snacks and headed off to Brimfield, MA for the antiques fair and flea market. Technically, we were making this trip to celebrate our wedding anniversary; Brimfield is where we went on our honeymoon, where we stayed at the best bed and breakfast and poked around the fair for a few days. We go back to Brimfield every year, sometimes staying at the same B&B, but this time going up just for the day to save on money and vacation time. We do have a baby coming, after all! But, I’d like to think this year’s trip pulled double duty, both as an anniversary celebration and a mini-babymoon. It was as much time away as we could get, just the two of us, doing something we enjoy. And, we even found a little bedside table perfect for the nursery! It was a day filled with fresh air, some kettle corn and some alone time with my hubby. The perfect day, the perfect babymoon.
