It’s that time of year where things are crazy and there’s so much to do.  Seems like as good a time as any to update you on goings-on around these parts.  This post is an idea I stole from here back in the spring.

Making: the most of every day in December.  These is a special event just about every night this month.  It makes for a tiring, all be it fun, December.

Cooking: this amazing chowder for my friends last week.  It was incredible and will be repeated soon.

Reading: Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger.  I’ve wanted to read it for years and it was available at the library the last time I was there so I scooped it up.

Wanting: a good night’s sleep.  Kitten’s been up in the middle of the night again and I can get her to go back but then I’m wide awake.  Makes for stellar work productivity.

Looking: forward to getting the mail every night when I get home because of all the Christmas cards.  Seeing the smiling faces of all the important people in my life is great, I wish I could get photo cards in the mail year-round.

Playing:  Cards Against Humanity.  I know I’ve talked about this game before but it is the best way to ensure a great night with friends where you are guaranteed to laugh until you cry.  Not for the faint of heart.

Sewing: This is just plain funny.  I don’t still don’t sew.  Although I did ask for a sewing machine for Christmas.

Wishing: that Santa will bring me all sorts of running goodies this year.  I’d love a RoadID, a Garmin, and some socks.  I’m so un-original.

Enjoying: the thought that in just a week I will have two full weeks at home with my family.  Honey and I have a bunch of fun stuff planned and I can’t wait.

Loving: my community right now.  When I first moved back to Connecticut after 8 years in Boston Honey and I were in a major friend deficit.  We kinda leeched onto his sister’s peer group but it never felt like our own.  Now all these years later I have such a wide variety of people and groups of people that are truly important in my life. I am so lucky to have such amazing people as part of my life and I can’t imagine my life without any of them.

Hoping: that the predicted 50 degree weather in the forecast is true and that I’ll have time to try to go for a run tomorrow before my daughter’s drama performance.

Needing: to find more time to exercise in my schedule.  I know if it’s important to me I’ll make time for it, but it feels like there are too many important things I need to make time for in my life.  As much as I know I should, I have a hard time putting exercise before my children on the priority list.

Smelling: I love this perfume.  It’s a light scent and it puts me in a good mood.

Feeling:  the holiday spirit.  I’ve been playing Christmas music non-stop in the car lately.  I can’t pick a favorite song.  Do you have one?  My least favorite is The Little Drummer Boy.

Wearing: a black dress I’ve had in my closet forever with a sweater I hardly ever wear, but really like.  I feel cute today.

Following: lots of running blogs lately.  I am in a running rut right now, mostly because of the weather and the time of year so I’m looking for motivation from the blogs.  I’ve found some great ones.

Noticing: that for all the horrible news in the world recently there is still room for humanity.  Good things are happening everywhere to balance out the atrocities, you just have to look for them.  Start where you are, make a conscious choice to be the good part of someone’s day.

Knowing: that I make a difference every day in the lives of my students (or at least I try to) helps when my job is difficult and stressful.

Bookmarking:  This page.  The giveaways are incredible.  I’ve discovered some new blogs too.

Thanking: Michelle and all the other CTWM’s bloggers for their hard work on this little home of ours.  I still consider myself so lucky to be a part of this group of ladies.  Thanks also to our readers, you inspire me and encourage me even if you never say a word.  I know you’re out there.

Sharing:  My wish to you all for a happy, healthy holiday season with your family.  Peace to you and yours and best wishes for the New Year!
