For my first (and only) order of business this week, I need to follow up on a previous post.  I present to you: Jake’s Halloween costume.

Bernie Sanders.  Or Larry David impersonating Bernie Sanders.  Whichever you like better.  I kinda like the latter.

I fear it will be all Batman and Spiderman for the foreseeable future.  Perhaps we can collaborate on hilarious costumes when he’s reached the age where he’d rather stay home and hand out candy than trot around the neighborhood.  This mom can only hope.

On a related note, this was his first trick-or-treating Halloween and boy did he love it.  After he got over the concept that you don’t invite yourself into every house, he quickly became a pro at “ticka tweet” running from house to house.  45 minutes and a hot cup of cider thanks to a generous neighbor, we called it a night and headed home.  24 hours later, he had come down with the chest infection to end all chest infections. In fact, we’re currently keeping the local pharmacy in business as this kid repairs his lungs.

Onto my other kid.  Abby was her favorite character of all time.

So excited to be Doc, she told everyone she saw about her costume for two weeks leading up to the big event.  Imagine my surprise when her trick-or-treating lasted exactly one house (and one super scary fake spider) before calling it a night and making the long trek back (across the street) to the comfort and security of our couch (and Doc McStuffins on TV.)

Already working on my ideas for next year – if anyone’s got a 2-year old to spare, I’ve got a wig and a great idea.  Perhaps Jake will surprise me and hold Batman off one more year… time will tell.
