The Importance of Date night

One comment

Valentine’s day used to be an excuse for me to go out to a nice restaurant, share a good bottle of wine with the man I love and order dessert even if I was way too full!  Becoming a mom has changed this a little bit although I am happy to report that this year my husband and I will be going out on a real date to celebrate Valentine’s Day for the first time since we had our children (we’ve gone out alone but not for Valentine’s Day) and I couldn’t be more excited!

In years past, we have celebrated Valentine’s Day with take-out after the kids were in bed and I have to say, even that was nice.  I don’t think it matters where or how you celebrate but I do think that it’s important to make it a priority to spend some QT with your significant other however you can do it….and not just on Valentine’s Day or your anniversary.  It’s really important to regularly spend some one on one time with your other half  enjoying each other’s company because after all, one of the best things you can do for your kids is to maintain a loving, healthy relationship with their daddy.  So if you haven’t already, make plans to do something fun with your man soon!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

  1. Just reading this now and have to say that I couldn’t agree MORE! Hubby and I have what we call “couple-time” after boys go to bed ~ we massage each other and talk and it makes such a HUGE difference. We just started doing this a few months ago and it has certainly brought us closer together ~ carving out that time just for us…it’s wonderful.
