My life in iPhone pics.

The last month has been an emotional roller coaster.  There has been some pretty big change in my life and I’m working hard to work through it and get to the other side but it hasn’t been easy.  As a result of this, it’s been hard for me to muster any brilliance when it comes to blog posts.  So I decided I’d take you a little tour of my life this last month and show you what’s has been going on in my world that has had nothing to do with the other yucky stuff I’m dealing with.  I got the idea because every so often I like to scroll through the pictures on my phone to remind myself what we’ve been doing.  I always find some gems.  Lately though it’s been pictures of things I want to buy.  Retail therapy anyone?

I’ve been looking for something with a pop of color to flank the front door of our house.  I stumbled across these bad boys (girls?) at HomeGoods but couldn’t commit.  The more I think about them, I’m not sure they’d hold up to the weather.  I’ll keep looking.

We had to cut down a big tree in our back yard that provided a lot of shade to our patio and now are on the hunt for a large umbrella or a gazebo-like tent-thingy (that’s the technical term).  Everywhere I go I take pictures of them and send them to Honey.  He’s getting sick of me.  This one’s at Home Depot and might be the winner.

While at Big Lots looking for umbrella/awning thingys I saw these headboards.  Not sure if I’m sold on any of them, although the bottom two are the style I’m going for, but the price tag is good, especially if I can’t commit.

Sunday we took the girls to their first game at Fenway.  The Sox lost 3-2 and it was cold and windy, but we still had a great time.  Honey and I would like to get to every major league park at some point.  So far I’ve been to 5.  Can you guess which ones?  How many have you been to?

I saw this quote on Facebook.  I’m not sure if Mr. Rodgers actually said it and I don’t care.  I saw it at a time I needed to see it and immediately sent it to Honey.  I like thinking of love as something in which you actively engage.

Kitten’s third birthday was a few weeks ago.  Not quite sure how that happened.  She requested a minion party.  This was my attempt at a minion cake.  How’d I do?  We did something else for her party that was so easy and simple I wondered why I’d never thought of it before.  We served panini.  I borrowed a few presses and bought all the fixings (I posted a poll on Facebook asking people what they liked on their panini and then bought all those ingredients).  It was a huge hit!  Everyone got what they wanted and prep/clean up were simple.  I strongly recommend this option the next time you have a family party.

After 8 very long months the bathroom saga has come to an end!  I never thought I’d see paint on these walls but I finished it up over my April break.  Looks pretty good if I do say so myself.

I found this towel at Bed, Bath, and Beyond for $1.99 on clearance!  Unfortunately it was the last one.  I’ve looked at one other store and came up empty.  I’d love 3 more.  If anyone spots them let me know!

Am I the only one that reads magazines with a phone handy so I can snap pictures or take notes of ideas?  I’m guessing I’m not.  I stumbled on this app in Better Homes and Gardens and think I might give it a try.  I’m not someone who is overly internally motivated to workout and this might help.  Although I did recently decide sign up to run the Surf Town half marathon in September.  I’m totally nuts, but it’s nice to have a goal.

This picture makes me extremely happy.  This is the mother lode of hand-me-downs that Kitten has been blessed with.  Only the top box is clothes that were her sister’s.  The other two boxes were given to me by dear friends.  I am always appreciative of hand-me-downs and my girls love them.  The generosity that we have been shown with toys, books, clothes has been overwhelming.  The only thing I know to do to truly express my feelings is to pay it forward.  I have handed down more toys, books, gear, and clothes to as many people I can.

I’ll end with this:

I’m not sure where I found it, if you know please let me know so I can credit the source.  This is exactly what I need to hear on the daily.  We probably all do.

You know that dream you have of who you want to be?  You are already that person, you just need to make it happen.

Who knew all that profound insight could be found in a bunch of iPhone photos?  What do you have hiding on your phone?

  1. I can totally relate to this, Cora! This is the exact reason why I have a hard time deleting pictures from my phone and constantly have storage issues. I love being able to go back through and remember some funny reason why I snapped a photo. So fun!

  2. This is a great post! I also take pics of ideas in magazines so I don’t forget them. I like that app too! What color scheme are you trying to hit for your front walk? I’ll keep my eyes peeled.

    1. We have blue shutters and white siding so something that works with that. I’ll most likely be painting the front door black.

  3. You totally got me with the quote at the end. It brought tears, and is now printed and waiting to be hung somewhere. Have been thinking a lot lately about how fear gets in the way of my art-making. I do have 3 canvases, though… 🙂

  4. What a clever idea. The phone photos are truly a diary in pictures, aren’t they. I will look at mine differently now. And don’t go back to HomeGoods for the yellow vase — I’m on my way to snatch it up.

    1. I’m guessing we don’t shop at the same Home Goods Randi, but if yours doesn’t have it let me know, and I’ll go to mine to get it for you. We shoppers need to stick together!
