Recently, my fellow blogger Jenn and I suffered the excruciating hardship of enduring 60 minute signature massages at the hands of the folks at the Norwich Spa at Foxwoods. Listen to this torture: This beautifully choreographed, full-body, firm massage will release the tension in the entire back and shoulders, leaving you with a renewed sense of well-being.
I KNOW. Can you believe what we go through in the name of sisterhood? Look how tired and sad we are:
Just kidding, you guys. This. was. AMAZING. Jenn and I walked into the spa and were instantly relaxed, which is saying something since between us, we have four small daughters — and y’all know how relaxing THAT is. We arrived a little early, as suggested, so that we could enjoy the amenities of the spa: a gorgeous pool, sauna, and hot tub. It was enough for me, though, to lounge in my comfy spa-provided robe and sip a beverage in silence.
The massage was exactly what I needed. Not as invasive as a deep tissue massage, but deep enough to really work through all the stress and tension. What I loved specifically about the Signature Massage was that it focuses on the back, shoulders, and neck. If I’m honest, that’s all I really care about during a massage. That’s where I carry all of my stress (mentally and physically — I’m looking at you, three-year-old who insists on being carried). We emerged from our treatments like new women. It was glorious.
We got dressed and moseyed through the casino to our next stop… dinner. There are a billion choices, but we were lucky enough to experience Cedars Steak House.
The contemporary but cozy restaurant decor is perfect for anything from a romantic dinner date or, in our case, a long-overdue mom’s night out. The menu offers a wide variety of beef, poultry and fresh local seafood. It took us several sips of our cocktails and many, many minutes to make our choices. I went with a fantastic french onion soup to start. I can’t even, you guys. It was out of this world.
For our main courses, Jenn selected the surf and turf (featuring center cut filet and lobster tail with drawn butter) which, hi, the portion? I hope you’re hungry is all I’m saying. I’m all about the meat (what?) so I chose filet mignon with Béarnaise sauce and mashed potatoes and finished up with a slice of cheesecake drizzled with strawberries.
What an amazing evening for us. Pampered and fed delicious food (and wine!) that we did not have to prepare! Thank you, Foxwoods Resort Casino, for giving two tired moms a much needed night out.
And we’re not going to leave you, dear readers, out of this fun! We’ve lined up an incredible giveaway.
