Today, September 1st, is the 8th anniversary of our website. To mark this special occasion we want to share a few things with our dear readers.
Thank you so much for coming back and reading our stuff. Because of you, our website had over 120,000 hits over the past year. We put out hundreds of blog posts from over 30 writers. We connected with many of you through our social media accounts that now total over 15,000 people. But more important than any stat, we are grateful for this safe place on the web to share our stories, challenges, triumphs, fears, and just the honest truth about our lives. Thank you for reading, sharing, and commenting on our writing.
As we look into this next year we want to share a few positive changes. We want to be more conscious about the experiences of the disability community and how disabled parents access our website. That’s why we’ve already removed the sliding header that we had up on the top of our homepage. They don’t work well for those who are reading our website on a screen reader. Additionally, we increased the font size across the entire site and will be add alt tags to all of our images moving forward. We’re aiming for a more simple look and feel that is accessible to everybody.
We’re also renewing our commitment to ensuring that our content is consistent with our theme of loving more and judging less. That message is the core of who we are. You’ll likely see more posts tackling judgement-free motherhood as we turn inward and get back to our roots.
Lastly, we’re hoping to add some new writers to our team so if you’ve ever thought about writing please send me an email at michelle@ctworkingmoms.com.
Before I wrap up I want to send a special shout out to our dear friend Sara Orris. Sara managed this website when I took a step back to build a kindness-focused community group in my town back in September of 2016 and couldn’t manage both projects. She did an incredible job keeping our website moving forward and we are filled to the brim with gratitude for everything she’s done for us. Sara has stepped down from the website, but will remain an avid reader and close friend.
We’re excited for the year ahead. We hope you are too!
